Day 192: Marriage + Hair

Today I learned...
...marriage is about teamwork in a way that's very different from other relationships.

Today I am thankful for...
...the ability to do my own hair.

Day 170: Teamwork + Love

Today I learned...
...that teamwork is a beautiful thing.

Today I am thankful for...
...Downton Abbey, The Language of Flowers, and my cats...one on my head and one in my lap to be exact. I turned to Rick and said: "Look, your whole family is in one chair!" And he came over, kissed me, and said, "Aw, everyone I love is in one pile." :-)

Day 64: Sleep + Support Group

Today I learned...
...I need more sleep. So tonight I'm going to bed at 9:00 pm. Rick's orders.

Today I am thankful for...
...the women in the support group I lead. They are strong, they are committed, and they are compassionate. I am proud to walk beside them through their journeys.

Day 62: Knowledge + Study Group Antics

Today I learned...
...that I am more prepared for the licensure exam than I thought. I think our little study group got 90% of the practice questions right this afternoon.

Today I am thankful for...
...3 mugs of coffee, lunch of champions, a massive piece of chocolate cake (with ice cream), girl-chatter, social work discussions, an iPhone app that allows us to study for licensure, and all the other components of today's study group. :-)

Day 41: Studying + the iPhone!

Today I learned...
...that studying for this licensure exam with a team of my fabulous classmates is much better than studying for it alone. Yay for teamwork and camaraderie.

Today I am thankful for...
...my brand new iPhone5! My 3GS got an upgrade today. And thanks to my dad, I am the proud owner of this glorious little technological tool that makes my busy life sooooo much easier on the go. :-)

Day 37: Group Projects + Love Notes

Today I learned...
...that a group project doesn't have to be a chore. Normally when the term "group project" is uttered in a school setting - whether that setting be high school, undergrad university, or graduate school - it strikes fear and trepidation in the hearts of most. Maybe it's just the fact that we're social workers and care about each other a lot, but I'm working on a group project right now and it's smooth sailing. There haven't been many times I've been able to say that about group work. Tonight, armed with a laptop, we easily and efficiently planned and planted all our PowerPoint slides into one presentation in less than an hour. There is no worry about one person doing more work than another. There is no fear that a deadline won't be met. Yay! Go team!

Today I am thankful for...
...the note from Rick that was waiting for me when I arrived home after a long day and night. It made me smile, as his notes usually do.

Day 19: Teamwork + Niece Love

Today I learned...
...that the promise of teamwork makes a task seem significantly easier. Something difficult will still be difficult, but working on it with another person is enough to ease my worries and make me feel more confident.

Today I am thankful for...
...speaking to my little niece on the phone. It was her 2nd birthday and she had many things to tell me, some of which included: "I love you, Auntie A," "Uncle Rick is so cute," and "I'm TWO!!!" I also found out that apparently "Uncle Rick is cuter than chocolate milk," which I hear is a pretty big deal.
